Red Letter Messenger is an American Contemporary Christian songwriting couple from Georgia. Tommy Redd and Carrie Sinclair began their musical pursuits together in Tyrone, Georgia after meeting in a small group at Dogwood Church. Their shared passion for music and love for the Lord led the pair down a journey that started with leading a few worship songs for their small group to writing and arranging original works.

Tommy began playing music at an early age. By the time he was in his early teens, his natural talent led him into a secular, hard rock music career that lasted throughout early adulthood. Although the band saw some success, it was a gateway into to the typical “rock-star” lifestyle, and all that comes with it, steering him down the wrong path – searching for love and fulfillment in worldly ways.

His rock-star days ended and the obligations of life, work, and raising a family took him away from his love of music and songwriting. After going through a divorce and feeling the need for a life-change, Tommy returned to the church for answers. It wasn’t long before he felt the Lord tugging on his heart. He answered the call and surrender his life to God and followed through in believer’s baptism. Tommy gave his life to the Lord and joined a small group – seeking fellowship with other believers as he continually prayed for the Lord’s direction. He expressed interest in joining the church worship band, which ultimately inspired the journey to Red Letter Messenger.

Today, Tommy is embracing this “new-ness” of life, realizing that his gift comes from the Lord.

Song Lyrics “Enhancer”

Carrie developed a love for music early in her childhood. She spent much of her life singing in church choirs and worship bands. Her affection for music landed her scholarships to college as a voice major. However, the creative spirit in her, coupled with the desire to help people led her to switch her education direction to cosmetology. Carrie worked as a master cosmetologist for many years until 2018, when the Lord placed ministry work on her heart. She has been serving as a project manager in marketing for a well-known broadcast ministry ever since.

In 2021, Carrie found herself starting over after going through a divorce—and moved to Peachtree, City. It was there she met Tommy, at Dogwood Church. The Lord led her into a new season of ministry, opening the door to serve as a small group leader. This opportunity not only provided new friendships, support, encouragement, and spiritual growth with other believers, it also presented an unexpected platform to utilize for her passion for praise and worship music.

Today, Carrie is grateful for the blessings that have come from brokenness, and eager to share His love with others.

Lyrics

How Can I Know

How can I know
Lead me to believe
If it doesn’t show
Help my heart to see

Keep me on the path
That’s straight and narrow
Teach me to laugh
At the devil’s arrows

I know I’m blind
Help me to find
The truth
Help my disbelief
Give my soul relief
In you

When I meet the day
Grant me gratitude
Show me the way
Change my attitude

Q
Lyrics

Kingdom Come

In the actions and the passions of my time
You were right there, always by my side
You never turned your face from me
But I was too blind
I was too caught up
I was too far gone to see

When my time has come
And your will is done
I am not afraid
My price has been paid

Pressed down and shaken together
Folded and blessed a full measure
You never turned your face from me
But I was too blind
I was too caught up
I was too low to see

When my time has come
And your will is done
I am not afraid
Your love beat the grave

In the crushing and the pressing of my life
You were right there, always by my side

You never turned your face from me
But I was too blind
I was too caught up
I was too high to see

When my time has come
And your will is done
I am not afraid
My price has been paid
When your Kingdom comes
Your will shall be done
I am not afraid
Jesus Christ has saved me

Q
Lyrics

Saved

I am not alone
When I’m by myself
Wherever I may roam
You are always there
On the wings of dawn
To the far side of the sea
Even there your hand
Will be a guide to me

Not hidden from you
In the secret place
Woven together
Now I am awake
Search and know my heart
Test my anxious thoughts
Rid me of offence
Have mercy on me God

Darkness will not hide
Night will shine like day
I praise your holy name
Fearfully wonderfully made

In November 2023, Red Letter Messenger entered Real 2 Reel Studios in Jonesboro, GA – home of Collective Soul – with Will Turpin (co-producer, bass guitar, keys) and Robby Wilson (drums) to record their first EP, “Shaken Together”. These three songs define their Christian genre:

1. Saved – an up-tempo, mandolin-infused, song of celebration.
2. How Can I Know – a full-throated mid-tempo rocker asking the ultimate question of faith in the unseen.
3. Kingdom Come – a heartfelt lyrical ballad, encompassing a range of sonic flavors with a Beatle-esque sound, declaring Jesus Christ has saved me.

Engineer, Jonathan Beckner, worked his magic to blend multiple tonalities into the final creation presented here for your listening pleasure and spiritual inspiration.

The studio recording was done with the following gear:

• Gibson guitars – SJ200, Hummingbird, Les Paul (through Vox AC15)
• Fender Stratocaster – through Fender Blues Jr amp with tube screamer pedal (solo sections)
• Eastman MD515 Mandolin
• Noird stage 3 keyboard
• Epiphone 345 style “Jack Cassidy” semi-hollow body bass
• Yamaha recording customs drum kit

Powered by prayer, homemade Bread Beckers muffins, and lots of coffee (black)!

The Ministry of Red Letter Messenger

Our mission is to touch hearts and bring lost sheep into the fold through music. God placed a desire on our hearts to speak to those who may be searching for God’s love in destructive ways, or in the wrong places. The lyrics of our songs are all inspired by verses of Scripture. We feel the Lord has called us to be His messengers to bring His words to life and encourage those looking for unconditional and absolute love that only comes from Him. It’s our prayer that the Lord will use our stories to share His truth and love to those in need.

MAKING MUSIC THAT MATTERS.
